A Magistrate court sitting in Bolade Oshodi has sentenced 13 offenders to jail for pooing and urinating in public spaces. The offences were committed in various parts of the state.
Cityscenes gathered that the convicts were earlier arrested on Monday for engaging in open defecation and urination at Agege and Alimosho Area.
During their trial, each of the 13 accused persons pleaded guilty. Upon their guilty pleasure when they were arraigned, they were subsequently sentenced to 3 months’ imprisonment each.
Prosecution records showed that the thirteen people convicted are:

Sulaimon Olalekan – 54yrs
Idris Jimoh – 45yrs
Alao Babatunde – 54yrs
Chinonso Dominic – 21yrs
Akeem Suraju- 42 years
Lawal Idris – 29yrs
Oluwatobi Adebayo – 30yrs
Ismaila Adeyemi – 35yrs
Murtala Jamilu – 20yrs
Samson Memudia- 54yrs
Jamilu Abdullahi – 29yrs
Ganiyu Akeem – 55yrs
Speaking after the convictions, a government official declared that governments at all levels in the state are poised for a serious war on open defecation.
“The situation in Lagos now is – poo or urinate in public; go to jail. Governments at all levels in the state are poised for a serious war on open defecation. The determination to keep Lagos free of health hazards and dirts is stronger now more than ever before,” he added.
