Councilors across the three Local Government Areas in Remoland have unanimously endorsed Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for the Ogun East Senatorial seat and Hon. Funmi Efuwape for the Remo Federal Constituency seat ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The endorsement formed part of resolutions reached during the Remo Legislative Forum Summit held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, under the aegis of the Remo Councilors’ Forum, comprising elected lawmakers from Sagamu, Ikenne, and Remo North Local Government Areas.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the summit, the lawmakers said the gathering was convened to assess governance, grassroots development, and political stability in Remoland under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The forum declared its total support for Governor Dapo Abiodun’s transition to the Senate, describing his administration’s ISEYA agenda as transformative across Ogun State.
According to the councilors, the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, youth empowerment, social welfare, and security informed their decision to endorse the governor as the sole candidate for the Ogun East Senatorial District seat.
The lawmakers specifically referenced the construction of over 1,500 kilometres of roads and the completion of the Gateway International Airport project as part of the administration’s landmark achievements.
They reaffirmed their loyalty to the governor and pledged continued support for the APC’s progressive agenda in the state.
The forum also adopted Hon. Funmi Efuwape, popularly known as FAECO, as the consensus candidate for the Remo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
The councilors described Efuwape as an experienced administrator whose previous roles as former Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government and commissioner in different ministries positioned her as a credible representative for the constituency.
The summit further endorsed four APC candidates for the Ogun State House of Assembly elections. They include Hon. Adebiyi Adeleye for Remo North, Hon. Seyi Odumiywa for Ikenne, Hon. Damilare Bello for Sagamu 1, and Hon. Olapeju Ayodele for Sagamu 2.
The motion endorsing the candidates was moved by Hon. Ayodeji A. Dada of Ward 7, Remo North Local Government, and seconded by Hon. Muyideen Alayo of Ward 3, Sagamu Local Government before it was unanimously adopted.
The lawmakers also passed a vote of confidence in the Ogun State APC State Working Committee and local government party structures for maintaining unity and discipline within the party.
As part of strategies ahead of the elections, the forum directed all councilors to immediately intensify grassroots mobilization and voter sensitization efforts across their wards and polling units.
The communiqué was jointly signed by Rt. Hon. Olusegun Jolaoso, Leader of the Remo Legislative Council; Rt. Hon. Micheal Odujoko, Leader of the Ikenne Legislative Council; and Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Babalola, Leader of the Sagamu Legislative Council.
