The ancient town of Sagamu in Ogun State mourned on Wednesday following the ‘untimely death’ of a respected citizen, Olayinka Oduyebo.
According to preliminary reports, the socially mobile gentleman, know for his friendliness and philanthropy, died in his Sagamu GRA residence on Wednesday evening.
The 51-year-old, who attended Remo Secondary School, Sagamu (RSS), belong to the 88/93 Class set of the prestigious school.
Family, friends, colleagues, community leaders, youths and other sympathisers, gathered on Thursday to bid the deceased a solemn farewell as he was interred on the premises of his Sagamu home.
Numerous speakers at his graveside described him as a good man whose death remains a shock to all and sundry. They prayed that God will give his widow, Alhaja Sarat Omolola Oduyebo, and his children, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Speaking to our reporter after the burial, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Ogun State Governor on Public Communications, Otunba ‘Dare Odufowokan, said the state has lost a promising personality whose love for the state is never in doubt.

“We have lost a great soul. We sympathise with Alhaja Omolola Oduyebo and the children. We mourn with the entire Oduyebo family. This is a tragedy. But we cannot fight God. May his soul rest in peace.
Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun in Housing, Hon. Gbenga Banwo, while speaking, expressed sadness over Oduyebo’s death and prayed that the family he left behind will be comforted by God. He described the deceased as a community man who loves Sagamu with all his heart.
Members of The Remo Group (TRG33), who came in droves to sympathise with the family, were full of prayers for the family. They urged the people of the community to stand by the widow and the children as a mark of love for the deceased.
