An enraged old man, Mallam Auwalu, who is the father of Umar Auwalu, the principal suspect in the killings of a housewife and her six children, has urged the government to waste no time in trying his son and sentencing him to death.
According to the elderly Auwalu, while speaking on a local Radio Station in Kano, his son should not be allowed to remain alive.
“The likes of Umar, my son should not be allowed in society. They should be killed to allow for a peaceful environment”.
He spoke in Hausa language during the interview, accusing his son of having hands in other killings in the locality.
“I strongly suspect that my son Umar is involved in the killings of the Darayi Hausa wif’se junior sister sometimes last month. I’m quite sure that Umar has been committing several crimes which we are not aware of.
“Now that he has been arrested, he should be punished accordingly. I don’t want the government or the security agency to delay his trial because if he is allowed to stay in prison one day, some politicians will come and forgive him and that will not go well with our society,” he said.
He pleaded with the government to promptly try Umar and sentence him to death so as to serve as a deterrent to others who may want to indulge in criminal activities.
