Ayodeji Balogun, the Grammy award winner popularly known as Wizkid, stirred the hornet’s nest yesterday when he declared that he is a bigger star than the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
Wizkid, while finally breaking his long silence following days of social media face-off between his fans and Fela’s musician son, Seun Kuti.
Seun had accused Wizkid’s fans of disrespecting his father, the legendary Fela Kuti. In the process of warding off attacks from Wizkid’s fans, had attacked the Grammy winner severally.
The face-off started recently following Seun’s public accusations that Wizkid’s supporters were abusive in their comments about his late father’s legacy.
Seun frowned at the fact that they were drawing comparisons between Fela and Wizkid. In many online posts, Seun took swipes at both Wizkid and his supporters.
In a response shared on IG Stories, Wizkid posted a video of a woman defending him, saying he’s done more to promote Fela Kuti’s work to a new generation.
Wizkid rhen added, “Fela fight for freedom this Dey fight fc!! I big pass your papa, wetin you wan do? @bigbirdkuti I’m Big Wiz everyday bigger than your papa!! Wetin u one do”, to the video.
Wizkid also directly attacked Seun, hurling a series of harsh insults at him while insisting that he is greater than Fela.
“Pu**y boy @thenigbirdkuti ok i big pass your papa!!!wetin u one do? Fool at 40!,” he wrote
