Ruling Party Unsure About Her
Prof. Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has joined the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State.
According to information gathered by Cityscenes, the former Senator representing Ogun Central senatorial district had quietly completed her e-registration at her father’s birthplace, Ibogun, Ward 11, Ifo Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.
A Commissioner with the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEBand a close ally of Prof. Obasanjo, Abiodun Ajayi, while confirming the development, said the registration was done and concluded without any hitch. .
“I can confirm to you that Prof. Iyabo Obasanjo completed her online registration as a member of our great party, the APC, on Tuesday at Ibogun Ward 11 in Ifo Local Government,” he said.
A visit to I Ogun by Cityscenes also confirmed the development as some prominent local Chieftains of the ruling party spoke with our team and confirmed witnessing Dr. Obasanjo’s E-registration.
Asked about their opinion on her joining the APC, many of the members in I Ogun expressed indifference, saying it is left for the national and state leaders of the party to decide what to do with her. “She’s free to come if the national and state leaders are okay with her coming. For us here in Ibogun, we really don’t know her yet as a member of the party,’an executive committee member of the ward said.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State chapter of the party is yet to say anything about the coming of Dr. Obasanjo. Pundits say this is strange. “Ordinarily, the party should be celebrating her coming, except if the leadership feels she is of no political importance or if they just done want her in the party,” a source said.
