Ahead of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, Governor Dapo Abiodun has strengthened preparations in Ogun State with the appointment of key officials to coordinate the exercise.
The Governor named Shamsudeen Adebayo Apelogun as Amirul Hajj for the 2026 pilgrimage, placing him in charge of leading pilgrims from the state to the Holy Land.
Abiodun also appointed Zakariyah Ishaq Olorungbebe as Chairman of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for the 2026 Hajj operation.
According to the state Government, Olorungbebe will supervise the board’s administrative and operational activities to ensure a seamless pilgrimage process.
Governor Abiodun said the appointments are part of the Government’s broader plan to guarantee a smooth, coordinated and successful Hajj exercise for pilgrims from Ogun State.
He urged both appointees to demonstrate diligence, integrity and strong commitment in the discharge of their duties, noting that effective leadership and collaboration would be crucial to ensuring the comfort, safety and spiritual fulfilment of pilgrims.
The State Government further assured intending pilgrims of its readiness to provide the support and structures needed for a hitch-free exercise.
