Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has unveiled plans to establish what he described as Nigeria’s largest dairy and cattle ranches in Ipokia and Yewa South Local Government Areas, with an initial capacity of 5,000 herds of cattle.
The Governor made the disclosure at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Strategic Stakeholders Meeting held at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, stating that the initiative is being driven at the instance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to Abiodun, construction work on the mega Agricultural projects will commence shortly, positioning Ogun State as a major hub for livestock production and dairy processing in the Country.
“The biggest dairy and cattle ranches will soon be established in Yewa South and Ipokia Local Government Areas. This is at the instance of Mr. President. These farms will start with 5,000 herds of cattle, and work will begin very soon,” the Governor said.
He explained that the projects form part of deliberate efforts to strengthen food security, scale up local agricultural production, and deepen agro-allied value chains across the state and the Nation.
Abiodun also commended President Tinubu for implementing what he described as bold and transformative economic reforms. He noted that the administration’s policies have stabilised the foreign exchange market, unified exchange-rate regimes, and increased Nigeria’s foreign reserves to approximately $45 billion.
The Governor further highlighted what he termed the President’s goodwill towards Ogun State, citing federal approvals for the Sagamu–Ijebu Ode Road reconstruction, funding support for the Eba oil discovery, and moves to resuscitate the Olokola Liquefied Natural Gas (OKLNG) project.
“There is nothing I have asked Mr. President for Ogun State that he has not approved,” Abiodun said, adding that Tinubu consistently directs investors showing interest in Nigeria to consider Ogun State as a preferred destination.
He maintained that the APC-led Federal Government has restored confidence among Nigerians at home and abroad, stressing that the administration’s performance underscores the need for continuity.
Highlighting his administration’s record over the past six years and eight months, Abiodun said Ogun has recorded significant milestones across key sectors. He disclosed that more than 1,700 kilometres of roads have been constructed statewide, over 7,000 housing units delivered, and more than 400 Primary Healthcare Centres upgraded and fully equipped. He also revealed that the state is on the verge of becoming an oil-producing entity.
The Governor said the stakeholders’ meeting was convened to review progress, address emerging political dynamics, and reinforce party cohesion ahead of the electioneering season. He urged APC members to prioritise unity and discipline, particularly as party congresses approach.
“A united APC is an unbeatable APC,” he cautioned.
Dignitaries at the meeting included former Governor Olusegun Osoba; Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide; Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi); Senator Shuaib Salisu; and House of Representatives Chief Whip, Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka.
Also present were Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani; Minister of State for Health, Dr. Isiaka Salako; APC State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi; former Deputy Governors; Lawmakers; Local Government Chairmen; and other party stakeholders.
