Communication scholar and media professional to assume office August 1, 2026
ABEOKUTA — Chrisland University, Abeokuta, has announced the appointment of distinguished communication scholar and media professional, Dr. Ayoola Olalekan Ajasa, as its new Dean of Student Affairs.
The appointment takes effect August 1, 2026.
Dr. Ajasa, an Associate Professor, succeeds Dr. Odunayo Anthonia Taiwo who currently serves as Acting Dean of Student Affairs.
In a statement, the university described the appointment as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen student support structures and enhance the overall student experience on campus.
A fit for student development
With a background in communication and media, Dr. Ajasa brings expertise in public engagement, student orientation, and institutional representation — key areas under the Office of Student Affairs.
The Office oversees critical student-facing functions at Chrisland, including:
- Orientation and Matriculation programmes
- Production of the Student Handbook
- Support for College and Departmental Students’ Associations
- Student support services and scholarship/bursary information collation
- Serving as liaison between students and university management on conduct, welfare, and policy matters
The Dean’s office also represents students’ interests before statutory bodies of the university and provides guidance on student conduct.
Growing institution
Chrisland University, which received its provisional license in 2017 and full approval in 2019, has recorded steady growth. The institution recently graduated 185 students at its latest convocation, up from 7 graduates at its first convocation.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Oyeduni Arulogun has consistently emphasized the university’s commitment to academic excellence, discipline, godliness, and a zero-tolerance policy on cultism and drug abuse.
University officials say Dr. Ajasa’s appointment aligns with that vision, as Student Affairs plays a central role in shaping campus culture and supporting students’ academic and personal success.
Chrisland University is owned by the Chrisland Schools group, founded by Dr. Mrs. Winifred Awosika.
