Weeks after the burial rites of veteran Yoruba actor Ogogo, his daughter, Kira, has opened up about the deep grief and emotional pain she continues to experience following her father’s death.
Kira took to Instagram on Thursday, September 3, 2026, to share a touching throwback video capturing a cherished moment between her and the late actor.
In the video, Kira and her father could be seen sharing a playful moment at a party. She jokingly asked Ogogo for a kiss on the cheek and playfully insisted until he obliged, preserving what has now become an especially precious memory for the grieving daughter.
But beneath the laughter in the throwback clip was a painful reality Kira is still struggling to come to terms with — life without her father.
In an emotional caption accompanying the video, she described the loss as one of the deepest heartbreaks she has ever experienced.
Kira admitted that her grief has at times manifested as anger, saying she sometimes feels upset with her father for leaving her behind. She also expressed how much she misses his hugs and the comfort of having him around.
“My daddy. The best, I can’t even get a hug anymore. Sometimes I hate you for leaving me…. I don’t know, jare. This is what heartbreak means, mehn.”
She went on to reveal one of the biggest wishes she had for her father before his passing, that he would have had more time to watch his daughter grow and meet her second child, who is yet to be born.
“I love you, daddy, but I just wanted more time, more time, more timeeee to meet my second baby. Thank you ooo TAIYE.”
Ogogo, whose real name was Taiwo Hassan, was a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry and enjoyed a career spanning decades. He reportedly died following a brief battle with cancer.
His death was followed by a series of funeral rites attended by family members, friends, colleagues and admirers of his work. His eight-day Fidau prayer was held on Monday, August 31, 2026, in Ilaro, Ogun State, as loved ones gathered to honour his life and legacy.
For Kira, however, the conclusion of the funeral rites has not brought an end to the grieving process. Her tribute highlights the difficult reality that while ceremonies may come to an end, the emotional journey of losing a parent can continue long after the final prayers have been said.
Her candid words have touched many of her followers, who flooded the post with messages of sympathy, prayers and encouragement as she continues to navigate life without her father.
For a daughter mourning a father she clearly cherished, the message was simple but heartbreaking: she did not want goodbye, she simply wanted more time.
