Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has extended warm felicitations to Muslim and Christian faithful across the State on the commencement of the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent, describing the period as one of deep spiritual reflection, renewal and rededication to God.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abeokuta, the Governor noted that fasting and abstinence from worldly pleasures symbolise a sincere commitment to seek divine guidance, strengthen faith and offer prayers for the growth of families, communities, Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
Abiodun observed that the near-simultaneous commencement of Ramadan and Lent this year is significant, as it highlights the shared values of sacrifice, charity, self-discipline and compassion that unite both faiths.
He expressed optimism that prayers and supplications offered during the sacred period would bring spiritual fortification, peace and sustained progress to the state and the nation.
“I congratulate our Muslim and Christian communities on the commencement of Ramadan and Lent, respectively,” the Governor stated.
“As a people bound by faith in God, this fasting season presents an opportunity for spiritual reconnection and divine blessings. The modest achievements recorded by this administration in the past six years are attributable to your prayers, support and goodwill.
“As the fasting period continues, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy and building a prosperous and inclusive future for all.
“We urge continued prayers for our country, the Presidency, and Ogun State, so that together we may experience enduring peace, unity and divine assurance.”
Governor Abiodun further wished adherents of both faiths a spiritually rewarding season, praying that the period would usher in greater harmony, development and collective prosperity across the State.
The statement was signed by Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy.
