Addressing the monarchs at the palace in Ijebu-Ode, Governor Abiodun explained that his decision was not about extending his tenure by proxy but about ensuring continuity by handing over to a capable leader who can sustain the developmental strides recorded under his administration.
He described Senator Adeola as a competent and experienced leader with the capacity to consolidate on the achievements of the current administration and move Ogun State to greater heights.
The Governor also appealed to the traditional rulers to extend to the APC candidate the same support and prayers they gave him ahead of the 2019 governorship election and throughout his seven years in office.
Governor Abiodun equally canvassed support for Mrs. Adegunwa-Balogun, describing her as an accomplished professional whose wealth of corporate experience would strengthen the administration’s leadership team.

In his remarks, Senator Adeola pledged to build on Governor Abiodun’s legacy by pursuing strategic economic projects, including commercial oil exploration, the establishment of a deep seaport and the revival of the Olokola Liquefied Natural Gas (OKLNG) project.
He also promised support for the creation of Ijebu State and assured the people of Ijebuland of fair representation and accelerated development under his administration.
Responding on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Acting Chairman of the Ijebu Traditional Council and Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba, pledged the support of the royal fathers for Senator Adeola’s governorship aspiration and Governor Abiodun’s Ogun East Senatorial ambition.
