ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Government has extended its palliative measures for public servants by another three months, as part of ongoing efforts to ease the financial burden on workers and sustain efficient service delivery across the State’s public service.
The approval, granted by Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, covers the period from July to September 2026, according to a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service dated July 15, 2026.
The circular, signed by the Permanent Secretary (Service Matters), Oladipupo F. Ogunfowora, on behalf of the Head of Service, stated that the extension follows the expiration of the earlier palliative package implemented between April and June 2026.
Under the renewed arrangement, eligible civil and public servants will continue to enjoy one day off-duty each week alongside the payment of a ₦10,000 monthly Special Transport Allowance.
The Government explained that the measures were introduced to cushion the impact of increased transportation costs on workers while encouraging them to maintain efficient and quality service delivery despite prevailing economic challenges.
According to the circular, the extension demonstrates Governor Abiodun’s administration’s commitment to the welfare of public servants and its determination to ensure that workers remain motivated and productive.
The Head of Service further directed all Accounting Officers across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to sustain the existing implementation framework to ensure that the palliative measures achieve their intended objectives without disrupting government operations or service delivery.
