The Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, has extended warm congratulations to Aare (Prof.) Láí Lábodé, the Kurùnmí of Ìjàyè-Ègbáland, as the revered monarch marks his first anniversary on the throne.
Adigun, who also identifies as a proud son of Ìjàyè with ancestral roots in both the Oladosu Compound on his paternal side and the Anigbio Compound on his maternal side, described the occasion as a celebration of purposeful service, visionary leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the growth and development of the community.
In a congratulatory message issued on the occasion, the NUJ scribe praised the traditional ruler for redefining the face of traditional leadership within his first year, noting that his reign had brought renewed hope, greater visibility, and a resurgence of pride among Ìjàyè sons and daughters both at home and in the diaspora.
“Your reign has elevated the status of our ancient town, placing the name of Ìjàyè far beyond where you met it and positioning it as a community of excellence and promise,” Adigun stated.
The journalist and community stakeholder further commended the monarch for his accessibility, wisdom, and dedication to preserving Ìjàyè’s rich cultural heritage while simultaneously embracing the imperatives of modern progress — qualities he said have earned the Kurùnmí widespread respect across Egbaland and beyond.
Speaking from his dual perspective as a media professional and a son of the soil, Adigun noted that journalists hold in high esteem leaders who champion truth, dialogue, and community engagement — values he said the Kurùnmí’s reign has consistently demonstrated.
“Your reign has reflected these values, fostering peace, inclusiveness, and a sense of belonging among all sons and daughters of Ìjàyè,” he added.
Adigun prayed that the palace of the Kurùnmí would remain a beacon of justice, unity, and enduring prosperity for generations to come, and called on the Almighty to grant Aare (Prof.) Lábodé sound health, divine wisdom, long life, and many more fruitful years on the throne.
