Palapable anxiety gripped some motor parks in parts of Lagis State following the reported death of the Organising Secretary of the state’s chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Toba Ajiboye.
According to reports, the popular socialite died today after being shot by unidentified gunmen on Sunday night.
His death was announced on Tuesday, throwing members of the transport union, associates, and supporters into mourning.
According to AKAB Media reports, Ajiboye was attacked by armed assailants on Sunday night. Although the circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear, he reportedly sustained gunshot wounds and later succumbed to his injuries.
The motive behind the attack has yet to be established, while security agencies have not issued an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
News of Ajiboye’s death comes after earlier reports suggested that he had survived the shooting. However, fresh information confirmed that he later died from injuries sustained during the attack.
His killing has sparked concern among transport workers and residents, with many calling on security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
