It is no longer news that Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni hosted the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, and his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye, at a state dinner in Entebbe, the country’s capital.
The high-profile reception formed part of Adeboye’s apostolic visit to Uganda, bringing together religious leaders and prominent figures for a series of engagements focused on Christian ministry and fellowship.
The Redemption Television Ministry announced the visit in a series of posts on X on Tuesday, expressing appreciation to the Ugandan president and his wife for hosting the Nigerian cleric and his wife.
“RCCG expresses heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni for hosting Pastor Adeboye, and Pastor (Mrs.) Folu Adeboye at a State Dinner, Entebbe,” the ministry stated.
One of the major highlights of Adeboye’s visit was the consecration of Pastor Patience Museveni Rwabwogo, the daughter of President Museveni, as a bishop.
The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Adeboye, with the RCCG describing the occasion as a historic episcopal consecration.
“The Office of the General Overseer of RCCG rejoices with Pastor Patience Museveni Rwabwogo on her consecration as Bishop at a historic service officiated by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye.”
The development adds another significant chapter to the longstanding intersection between Uganda’s public life and Christian ministry, particularly given Rwabwogo’s position as a member of Uganda’s First Family.
The Nigerian pastor’s Uganda itinerary also included a meeting with Bishop Dr LaDonna Osborn, CEO of Osborn Ministries International.
According to Redemption Television Ministry, Adeboye hosted Osborn for what it described as a strategic fellowship in Kampala.
“During his apostolic visit to Uganda, Pastor E.A. Adeboye hosted Bishop Dr. LaDonna Osborn, CEO of Osborn Ministries International, for a strategic fellowship in Kampala.”
The meeting brought together two prominent figures within international Christian ministry and formed part of the wider engagements surrounding Adeboye’s visit.
Adeboye’s trip has placed him at the centre of a series of religious and diplomatic engagements in Uganda, with his meeting with President Museveni and the First Lady underscoring the visibility of the visit.
The state dinner in Entebbe, the episcopal consecration and meetings with Christian leaders combined to make the visit a significant moment for RCCG’s activities in the country.
For the RCCG, the engagements represent an opportunity to strengthen relationships with Christian leaders and communities beyond Nigeria, while Adeboye’s presence at the consecration of Rwabwogo further highlighted the church’s international reach.
The visit also comes as the RCCG continues to maintain a growing presence across Africa and other parts of the world through its churches, ministries and evangelistic programmes.
